Get It Started - Editorial Well here it is the month of May, spring time and mothers day. What more can I say? LOTS. The world is in a Tumultuous state of affairs, chaos in politics, energy at an all time high and the world poised on the brink of change. Change is an interesting creature. Of course Change for changes sake is a fools crutch. But I think that we all look at the world and realize that we stand on the edge of a precipice. We can try to slip ever so carefully down the side of the cliff or take the plunge. But if we try to stand and wait or (heaven forbid) go backwards the precipice will collapse under our weight and we will crash down upon the rocky shore below. (wow, that was a dramatic image) By staying with what is we risk going over the falls in a (oil) barrel (pun intended). It is time to step up with courage, try a more "balanced" approach. Get a massage!
On another important point, I am taking on a Sales position with Allsolar Service. While I am not giving up my massage therapy practice I am certainly opening my future up. Solar is by far the least expensive and has the most benefit and return on investment. It is more earth friendly, sustainable (we have a lot of sun in fla (hint: sunshine state)) and the return starts as soon as the installation is complete. Our company is state wide and long and has more awards and recognition than you will care to read about. If I didn't think this was a company I could be proud of I wouldn't be helping people to realize its benefit. If you have any questions (no pressure) e-mail me at gary@allsolar.com and I will be happy to provide the answers to your questions. GO solar and start saving money NOW! BTW if you can't wait for the monthly newsletters for your fix of all things massage therapy you can go to http://www.scinthenews.com/index.php?news=997 f - you can search and get all the articles by putting "Gary" in the search box |

Did You know? While classic massage was often credited to Per Henrik Ling in Sweden it was actually some 20 years later that the actual strokes and patterned movements became an actual form to be called Massage. Massage literally rubbed people the right way in the 70's and has expanded more in the last 40 years than in the last 400 due to its popularity in North America.

Body Balancing Massage Therapy - Business Chair massage - What a great way to say thank-you. Early in May I got a call from a nursing home in Apopka. They wanted to do chair massage for the nurses. One of the PT's that knew me recommended me to the administrator. Well long story short the nurses and the PT's thoroughly enjoyed the massage work. For PT's and nurses who often work their bodies exceedingly hard the movement of the muscles increased circulation and helped them to relax. They mentioned over and over that the fluffy massage was not what they were looking for. They wanted someone to move the muscles but not hurt them. Coming from people who work with soft tissue all the time it was a great compliment. This is the great unrealized perk. Everyone is working twice as hard for half as much reward right now and rarely taking the time to take down the stress. Need to reward nurses, teachers, or office staff? An hour can cover 4 people. They will love you for the thought, the idea and the relief.

Lymphatic Drainage
Therapy - Modality IT has been over a year now since I did the first class in lymphatic drainage. IT is amazing the discoveries that have come to my attention. I can't wait to to the next class but with the economy the way it is it may be awhile. So I will study, practice and observe! What I have noticed so far is tremendous. For example without stating the obvious, many people have chronic edema and don't realize it. Edema is the accumulation of fluids. While working on clients doing Lymphatic drainage as part of my basic work. I began to see the effects in the tone of the tissue, its opaqueness, and swelling. As I started to open the pathways to encourage draining the tissue would become softer, the client would swallow more and more, but i could hear the difference in the breathing. The depth, size and ease of the breath all changed with the improvement in drainage. Edema is often an unrecognized forbear of other illnesses. Between ridiculously long and chronic sinus and ear infections to exacerbated reaction to normal pollen count. Even cellulite is rumored to improve with better lymphatic function. I have found ties to frozen shoulder and as such carpal tunnel syndrome as well as low back, hip pain and the propensity to falling in the elderly. Edema can be the harbinger of pain. Excessive static fluid pressure makes muscular tissue sensitive. But instead of moving the muscle to pump the fluid out the pain encourages lack of movement. That simple principle can be put in place in a great many pathologies. SO keep those muscles moving so the fluid continues to flow. |
